GROOMING After a big meal lions settle down and groom each other with their tongue. A mother grooms her cubs and licks the blood from their face after meal they had. The lions rough tongue is covered with small horny spikes called papillae. The papillae works like a brush or a comb when lions licks themselves , and papillae also helps when the lion is eating it can scrap of pieces of meat off bones. RESTING Lions often rest side by side. In Africa lions are famous for sleeping in trees a way of staying out of the sun, and to get away from insects. Often lions will sleep on the ground under a bush or a tree to were it is cool. Lions sleep mostly all day and save their energy for hunting at night when it is cool and they can hid better. Lions can see as well as we can but at night they can see six times better then we can. ROARING Male lions make loud roaring noises to let others know were they are. They roar to tell other lions to stay out of their territory and if they dont they will be attacked. Male lions also make low pitched sounds, and they can be herd from miles away. Lions gave excellent hearing and can catch sounds from all directions because their ears can tern different ways. Most roaring in done in the morning and at night. Females make roaring sounds to call their cubs. Lions can cough, growl and snarl to warn each other to leave them alone. Lions can also purr when they are satisfied but they cant purr as well as the small cats.
