Lions are found in Africa in the woodlands and grasslands. Lions also live in India. Asian lions now are extremely endangered. Two hundred Asian lion that live in the Gir Forest in India are now protected from hunters. They are the last of this subspecies living in the wild. African lions are not endangered, but long-term survival is threatened by the reducing of their natural habitats. Most African lions are being cared for and live in wild game preserves.
